BASEBALL-SPORTS -ENGLISH CAMP 2025

In the beautiful surroundings of Horná Nitra, the 29th annual Baseball – Sports – English camp (baseball camp) for children took place at the Go Kľačno recreational facility. The interest from children and parents was great this year.
The target age group was children aged 8-17. The camp was attended by 98 children, of whom 93 were from the Slovak Republic, 1 child from the Czech Republic, 1 child from Belgium, 3 children from the USA. The proper conduct of the camp was supervised by 50 coaches, assistant coaches, organizers and two health workers (26 Slovaks, 2 from Belgium, 19 from the USA and 1 from the Czech Republic).
The aim of the project was to fill the children’s free time meaningfully with sports (baseball, basketball, volleyball, floorball, football), cultural (evening campfire sessions with music and singing, fireworks, evening fun games called crazy games, musical program), educational (English lessons in a fun way, various competitions, games) and ethical program (evening evaluation of the day with stories and lessons). Every morning, a precisely defined program was set, which was evaluated at the end of the day. Everyone felt that the week had passed very quickly and expressed interest in the camp being longer in the future. During the evening program, some of the coaches from Slovakia and the USA shared their life stories, told us about themselves, their lives, their sports experiences, and encouraged the children to work on themselves and pursue what they enjoy. At the end of the week, we gave out photos with baseball cards.
The camp music band played various popular songs on musical instruments every evening and also sang the camp anthem. The children were divided into eight teams from the first day. In these teams, they practiced baseball during the week for the final weekend tournament. They participated in the Olympics, where they competed among themselves in various sports such as floorball, football, basketball, volleyball.
On the Sunday after their arrival, the coaches prepared a night game for the children. On Tuesday, the children practiced baseball in three groups, according to age. They were divided into 8-11 years, 12-14 years and 15-17 years. On Wednesday, the children with their coaches went to the ZOO, where they had to complete various tasks. On the same day, we took the children to the observation tower “Seagull in the Clouds” and enjoyed a beautiful view of Bojnice and the surrounding area. On this day, we also visited Dinopark, where the children also received tasks that they had to complete. In the evening, as part of the evening program, each team created a play based on clues from the whole day and performed it in English. On Thursday, we had a big English sports game. As a part of the evening program, all competitions were evaluated and based on these points, the coaches could choose the color of their team T-shirts for the tournament. On July 4th, Independence Day, we had an amazing laser show, combined with a disco.
On Friday and Saturday, the children and coaches had a final baseball tournament. On Saturday evening we evaluated the 1st, 2nd, 3rd place of the tournament and awarded medals. We also awarded the camper of the week. From each team, the coaches chose 2 children and they created the so-called All star team and they then played against the coaches in an exhibition match. At the end of the week, we also elected a coach of the week. The children could vote for which of the coaches they liked the most. The first three received beautiful statuettes.

The camp went by very quickly and we are all already looking forward to the jubilee 30th year.
